Description: Within NARA’s Still Picture Branch, Record Group 30 contains tens of thousands of photographs that had originally formed part of the documentation generated and produced by the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads. Material dates from 1896 to 1963. The topics covered in these images include cities and communities across the United States, trails, roads, highways, highway construction, roadside facilities and attractions, scenic views, traffic, and traffic management. Many of these images pertain to Route 66 and environs.
